HPD&#8217;s zijn ontwikkeld in overeenstemming met de<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hpd-collaborative.org\/hpd-open-standard-all-versions\/\"> HPD Open Standard<\/a> van de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hpd-collaborative.org\/about\/\">Health Product Declaration Collaborative<\/a> (HPDC). Ze dienen als hulpmiddel voor architecten, ontwerpers en bouwers die weloverwogen beslissingen willen nemen bij de materiaalkeuze. Een HPD is een waardevolle aanvulling op levenscyclusrapporten zoals LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) en EPD (Environmental Product Declaration).  <\/p>\n<p>Hoewel HPD\u2019s een uitstekend instrument zijn voor inzicht in de samenstelling van een product, is het belangrijk om de beperkingen ervan te kennen. Een HPD is namelijk geen certificering of goedkeuring door een derde partij, noch evalueert het de prestaties of kwaliteit van een product. Het beoordeelt niet of gebruikers mogelijk worden blootgesteld aan chemische stoffen of andere gezondheidsrisico&#8217;s lopen. Om in aanmerking te komen, moet een HPD de productinhoud bekendmaken tot ten minste 0,1% (1.000 ppm) en voldoen aan de HPD Open Standard.
