Deze brandstoffen zijn essentieel voor het decarboniseren van de industrie, ze verminderen de afhankelijkheid van fossiele brandstoffen en versterken de energiezekerheid op de lange termijn. Aan de hand van gedetailleerde onderbouwing en monitoring moet aangetoond kunnen worden dat er een aanzienlijke CO\u2082-reductie is ten opzichte van fossiele alternatieven. Certificering vereist een nauwkeurige <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecomatters.nl\/nl\/services\/product-voetafdruk\/levenscyclusanalyse\/\">berekening van broeikasgasemissies<\/a> (GHG) om te bevestigen dat de brandstof voldoet aan de regelgeving en dus als hernieuwbaar kan worden geclassificeerd. Een goed begrip van de eisen in een vroeg stadium helpt bedrijven om het certificeringsproces succesvol te doorlopen en nalevingsrisico\u2019s te vermijden.[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\" style=\"height:40px;\"><\/div><style>.vcex-heading.vcex_69f372a026667{font-weight:700;}<\/style><h2 class=\"vcex-heading vcex-heading-plain vcex-module wpex-heading wpex-text-2xl vcex_69f372a026667\"><span class=\"vcex-heading-inner wpex-inline-block\">Wat is een RFNBO?<\/span><\/h2><div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\" style=\"height:10px;\"><\/div>[vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]RFNBO\u2019s zijn vloeibare of gasvormige brandstoffen die worden geproduceerd met hernieuwbare energie (biomassa uitgezonderd). Een voorbeeld is waterstof geproduceerd via elektrolyse met stroom uit zonne- of windenergie. De Europese Richtlijn Hernieuwbare Energie (RED III) definieert RFNBO\u2019s en stelt strenge voorwaarden aan de certificering, zodat alleen echt duurzame brandstoffen bijdragen aan de klimaatdoelstellingen.<\/p>\n<p>Om als RFNBO te worden geclassificeerd, moet een brandstof:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Geproduceerd zijn met 100% hernieuwbare elektriciteit.<\/li>\n<li>Minimaal 70% broeikasgasreductie realiseren ten opzichte van fossiele alternatieven.<\/li>\n<li>Voldoen aan eisen ten aanzien van de massabalans en traceerbaarheid van duurzaamheid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\" style=\"height:40px;\"><\/div><style>.vcex-heading.vcex_69f372a02736e{font-weight:700;}<\/style><h2 class=\"vcex-heading vcex-heading-plain vcex-module wpex-heading wpex-text-2xl vcex_69f372a02736e\"><span class=\"vcex-heading-inner wpex-inline-block\">Wat moeten bedrijven weten?<\/span><\/h2>[vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]\n<h3><strong>1. Certificering<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>De EU heeft strikte certificeringseisen ingevoerd om te waarborgen dat RFNBO\u2019s voldoen aan bepaalde duurzaamheidscriteria. Producenten en gebruikers van de brandstoffen moeten naleving aantonen via vrijwillige certificeringsschema\u2019s zoals ISCC, CertifHy of REDcert, die officieel erkend zijn door de Europese Commissie.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>2. Elektriciteitseisen voor RFNBO-productie<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>De elektriciteit die wordt gebruikt voor de productie van RFNBO\u2019s moet volledig hernieuwbaar zijn. De EU noemt drie manieren om hieraan te voldoen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Directe aansluiting: de productielocatie is aangesloten op een eigen hernieuwbare bron (bijvoorbeeld een windpark of zonnepanelen).<\/li>\n<li>Netaansluiting met afnamecontract (PPA): stroom komt uit het net, maar is gedekt door een overeenkomst met een hernieuwbare energieleverancier, ondersteund door Garanties van Oorsprong (GvO).<\/li>\n<li>Elektriciteitsmix (grid mix): dit is alleen van toepassing in regio&#8217;s waar het aandeel hernieuwbare energie in de elektriciteitsmix meer dan 90% bedraagt. In zulke gevallen is aparte inkoop van hernieuwbare stroom niet nodig.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Vanaf 2030 geldt bovendien dat er per uur bijgehouden moet worden of er een correlatie is tussen productie en opwekking van de hernieuwbare elektriciteit. Het is de bedoeling dat RFNBO\u2019s worden geproduceerd wanneer hernieuwbare elektriciteit beschikbaar is.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>3. Broeikasgasemissiereductie<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Voor certificering van RFNBO\u2019s geldt als kernvoorwaarde dat ten minste 70% minder broeikasgasemissies (GHG) worden uitgestoten dan door fossiele brandstoffen. De berekening gebeurt volgens een levenscyclusbenadering (LCA), waarbij alle emissies van energie-input en productie tot transport en verbranding worden meegenomen. De emissies van RFNBO\u2019s worden vergeleken met standaard vastgestelde fossiele referentiebrandstoffen. Factoren waar rekening mee wordt gehouden, zijn onder andere: koolstofintensiteit van de gebruikte elektriciteit, herkomst van de grondstoffen en mogelijke CO\u2082-afvang of -opslag. Wanneer netstroom wordt gebruikt, spelen het hernieuwbare aandeel en het tijdstip van gebruik een belangrijke rol in de berekening \u2013 wat nauwkeurige rapportage en herleidbaarheid vereist.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>4. Massabalans en bewijs van duurzaamheid<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>RFNBO\u2019s moeten volledig traceerbaar zijn in de hele keten. Dit gebeurt via een massabalanssysteem en het opstellen van een bewijs van duurzaamheid (Proof of Sustainability, PoS).
