De impact wordt berekend met behulp van een Levenscyclusanalyse (LCA) en het definitieve document wordt geverifieerd door een goedgekeurde systeembeheerder. EPD\u2019s worden gepubliceerd en zijn online beschikbaar.<\/p>\n<p>Een EPD verkrijgen voor je product kan helpen met:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Transparantie<\/strong>: EPD\u2019s bieden een geloofwaardige manier om je milieu-impact te communiceren, waardoor je transparanter kunt zijn naar stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Productspecifieke standaard<\/strong>: Bij het maken van een EPD moeten specifieke Productcategorie Regels (PCR\u2019s) worden gevolgd. Deze regels schrijven voor wat belangrijk is om mee te nemen in de studie voor jouw productgroep.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Informatie voor besluitvorming<\/strong>: Objectieve gegevens over de milieu-impact van je producten maken ge\u00efnformeerde beslissingen mogelijk tijdens productontwerp, selectie en inkoop. Dit komt door regelgeving en richtlijnen die de communicatie van geloofwaardige gegevens over milieu-impact vereisen. Een voorbeeld hiervan is de Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), ingevoerd in 2023. Deze richtlijn verplicht grote en beursgenoteerde bedrijven om de impact van hun activiteiten op het milieu te rapporteren. Hierdoor willen bedrijven de impact begrijpen van de producten die ze gebruiken.
