Er zijn drie verschillende soorten milieuclaims, namelijk type I (ISO14024), type II (ISO 14021) en type III (ISO 14025). Milieuclaims die gebaseerd zijn op een LCA-studie kunnen, afhankelijk van het doel en de reikwijdte, van het type II (zelfverklaard) of type III (EPD) zijn. Dit artikel zal zich richten op type II claims; meer informatie over type III claims is te vinden op onze <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecomatters.nl\/nl\/services\/lca-epd\/milieuproductverklaring-epd\/iso-14025-type-iii\/\">webpagina over ISO 14025<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Een type II (ISO 14021:2016 Milieukeurmerken en -verklaringen &#8211; Zelfverklaarde milieuclaims) milieuclaim is een vrijwillige claim die wordt gemaakt door fabrikanten en bedrijven, en is dus &#8220;zelfverklaard&#8221;. Het hoofddoel is om de vraag naar en het aanbod van producten en diensten die minder belastend zijn voor het milieu te stimuleren door verifieerbare en accurate informatie te verstrekken over milieuaspecten van het product die niet misleidend is. Daarnaast heeft het ook als doel om het gebruik van zelfverklaarde normen te homogeniseren en consumenten in staat te stellen ge\u00efnformeerde keuzes te maken door vage en misleidende informatie in de betreffende claims te vermijden.[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\"><\/div><style>.vcex-heading.vcex_6a033f0c65f36{font-weight:700;}<\/style><h2 class=\"vcex-heading vcex-heading-plain vcex-module wpex-heading wpex-text-2xl vcex_6a033f0c65f36\"><span class=\"vcex-heading-inner wpex-inline-block\">Wat zijn de voornaamste eisen voor een Milieuclaim Type II?<\/span><\/h2><div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\" style=\"height:10px;\"><\/div>[vc_column_text]De belangrijkste vereisten zijn als volgt:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Claims moeten waarheidsgetrouw, accuraat, substantieel, geverifieerd en niet misleidend zijn, om zo misinterpretaties te voorkomen of te verminderen.<\/li>\n<li>Claims moeten specifiek zijn voor het gepresenteerde milieuaspect en mogen dus niet impliceren dat andere milieuaspecten ook door de claim worden gedekt.<\/li>\n<li>Claims moeten duidelijk aangeven of ze betrekking hebben op een volledig product of op een deel van het product.<\/li>\n<li>Claims moeten expliciet zijn en vergezeld gaan van een verklarende toelichting.<\/li>\n<li>Claims moeten rekening houden met de relevante levenscyclusfasen van een product om de impact langs de waardeketen te identificeren, en of een milieuvermindering in de ene fase kan leiden tot een toename in een andere fase.<\/li>\n<li>Een levenscyclusanalyse (LCA) is zeer nuttig om dit laatste aspect te evalueren, hoewel de ISO14021-standaard geen verplichting oplegt om dit uit te voeren. Deze types claims kunnen niet worden gebruikt om te beweren dat jouw product beter is dan dat van een concurrent, omdat het voor het publiek moeilijk kan zijn om zo&#8217;n claim te vertrouwen, aangezien er geen externe verificatie- of certificeringsprocedure is.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>De milieuaanspraak is volledig de verantwoordelijkheid van degene die de claim maakt, daarom moet er passende documentatie beschikbaar zijn ter ondersteuning van de claim, die indien nodig kan worden geverifieerd.[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\"><\/div><style>.vcex-heading.vcex_6a033f0c66f8e{font-weight:700;}<\/style><h2 class=\"vcex-heading vcex-heading-plain vcex-module wpex-heading wpex-text-2xl vcex_6a033f0c66f8e\"><span class=\"vcex-heading-inner wpex-inline-block\">Wanneer moet je kiezen voor een Milieuclaim Type II?<\/span><\/h2><div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\" style=\"height:10px;\"><\/div>[vc_column_text]Een zelfverklaarde Type II ISO 14021-conforme milieuclaim kan een interessante optie zijn voor je product wanneer je over de milieuprestaties van je product wilt communiceren voor aanbestedingsdoeleinden, business-to-business en zelfs voor business-to-consumer communicatie.<\/p>\n<p>Aangezien ISO 14021 geen verplichting oplegt om een levenscyclusanalyse (LCA) uit te voeren, maar eerder een levenscyclusbenadering stimuleert, zou een gedetailleerde LCA-screeningstudie met de juiste documentatie voldoende zijn om dit soort claims te maken. Afhankelijk van het doel waarvoor je de claim wilt maken (bijvoorbeeld het publiekelijk communiceren van de milieueffecten van je product voor uitgebreid marketinggebruik), kan een diepgaande LCA-studie echter meer geschikt zijn. In dit geval is een beoordeling door een derde partij aan te bevelen (maar niet verplicht), omdat dit meer geloofwaardigheid aan de studie toevoegt en minder waarschijnlijk wordt betwist door externe partijen.<\/p>\n<p>Belangrijk om te weten is dat dit soort milieuclaims niet altijd voldoende zijn om credits te verkrijgen in groene gebouwprogramma&#8217;s zoals LEED en BREEAM. Als je met je milieuclaim wilt voldoen aan dergelijke programma&#8217;s, is een ISO 14021-milieuclaim meestal niet voldoende. In dat geval heb je meestal een <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecomatters.nl\/nl\/services\/lca-epd\/milieuproductverklaring-epd\/iso-14025-type-iii\/\">ISO 14025 Type III<\/a> claim nodig.<\/p>\n<p>Het zorgvuldig overwegen van je specifieke doelen en nalevingsvereisten zal helpen bepalen of een zelfverklaarde Type II milieuclaim de juiste keuze is om de milieuprestaties van jouw product effectief te communiceren.[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\"><\/div><style>.vcex-heading.vcex_6a033f0c68049{font-weight:700;}<\/style><h2 class=\"vcex-heading vcex-heading-plain vcex-module wpex-heading wpex-text-2xl vcex_6a033f0c68049\"><span class=\"vcex-heading-inner wpex-inline-block\">Welke documentatie is nodig voor dit soort claims?<\/span><\/h2><div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\" style=\"height:10px;\"><\/div>[vc_column_text]Om betrouwbaarheid te waarborgen zonder onafhankelijke verificatie, is de eiser verantwoordelijk voor het evalueren en het verstrekken van gegevens ter verificatie wanneer daar naar gevraagd wordt. Dit vereist dat de eiser de juiste (dat wil zeggen transparant en wetenschappelijk) documentatie heeft van de gebruikte methodologie, zodat de geldigheid van hun claims kan worden gewaarborgd indien nodig.<\/p>\n<p>In de documentatie voor een zelfverklaarde milieuaanspraak moet duidelijk worden vermeld welke standaard of methode is gevolgd, evenals documentatie die als bewijs dient voor hoe de milieuaanspraak is beoordeeld.
