The European Commission has released the draft work programmes for Horizon Europe 2026 – 2027. Sustainability is mentioned across many of the research and innovation calls. This includes the integration of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), the application of the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework for materials development, attention to chemical safety and regulatory compliance.
At Ecomatters, in collaboration with our partner ARCHE Consulting, we are keen to join consortia to address these requirements. With long-standing experience in LCA, SSbD, and safety assessments, we help project partners strengthen proposals and ensure meeting these European priorities. By embedding sustainability assessment into project plans, consortia can not only meet funding requirements but also enhance the scientific credibility and policy relevance of their work.
How our expertise matches Horizon Europe priorities
The draft Horizon Europe calls for 2027 highlight multiple areas where our sustainability services add value. We are actively looking to join consortia preparing proposals in need of the following expertise:
- SSbD: We support iterative material design and selection, applying hazard identification, evaluating human health and occupational safety during manufacturing, and assessing potential exposure during use.
- LCA or PEF study: Our team can carry out comprehensive life cycle studies to measure environmental impacts from raw material extraction to end-of-life. Additional scenarios can be defined to understand how innovative ideas developed during the project perform against each other from an environmental perspective.
