Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
On January 5th, 2023, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) came into effect, requiring companies to disclose their sustainability performance using the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This change aims to give stakeholders—investors, regulators, and the public—a clearer view of a company’s social and environmental impact.
Originally, the directive applied to a larger group of companies. However, recent adjustments under the Omnibus Directive may reduce the number of businesses required to report. For those that still fall within the scope, sustainability reporting will become an annual requirement, integrated into their financial disclosures.
Why should I complete a CSRD report?
- Ensures compliance with the original directive and the new proposals
- Helps manage your company’s non-financial data
- Provides impact, (financial) risk, and opportunity management
- Supports the measurement and monitoring of your company’s (ESG) performance and strategy
Developing a CSRD report requires:
- A double materiality assessment defining material topics
- A gap-analysis to understand existing data gaps
- The development of a report according to the EFRAG standards
- An audit of the report to gain limited assurance
