Ecomatters and Moore MKW Collaborate to support SMEs with their Sustainability Reporting

In an exciting development, accountancy and financial advisory firm Moore MKW and Ecomatters announce a new partnership. This collaboration is designed to support Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with sustainability reporting requirements, in particular the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

Why this partnership matters

With the ever-growing importance of sustainability in the business world, this partnership comes at the right time. Olaf ten Hoopen, Vice Chairman of Moore MKW, emphasised the crucial role of sustainability in ensuring the future success and continuity of companies, and more specifically SMEs. “Sustainability is no longer a nice-to-have; it’s a must-have for businesses aiming for long-term success. Our collaboration with Ecomatters strengthens our ability to support our clients in meeting these essential new standards” said Ten Hoopen.

Leveraging expertise for comprehensive support

The synergy between Moore MKW’s financial expertise and role as a trusted advisor, and Ecomatters’ extensive experience in sustainability, is a natural fit. Max Sonnen, Managing Director at Ecomatters, highlights the value this partnership brings. “At Ecomatters, we have over 15 years of experience in sustainability reporting, CO2 calculations and quantitative sustainability support. We are committed to supporting SMEs and are happy to share our expertise with them and their accountants to enable practical sustainability reporting and make an impact” Sonnen noted.

Navigating the CSRD requirements

Starting in 2025, larger companies will be required to comply with the CSRD, which mandates detailed sustainability reporting in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This directive aims to increase transparency and accountability, making it clear how businesses perform regarding sustainability. SMEs will also be indirectly affected by these requirements as they become part of the larger supply chains subject to these new regulations. Our partnership is strategically designed to help both larger companies and SMEs navigate these complex requirements. Together, we combine deep expertise in fact-based sustainability, audit procedures, and compiling annual reports. Our collaboration ensures that supported businesses can rely on a full spectrum of support around sustainability reporting and CSRD specifically.

Both Ecomatters and Moore MKW are committed to a fruitful and enduring collaboration. We look forward to significantly impacting the sustainability journeys of numerous companies and SMEs, ensuring that they are well-prepared to meet the new requirements with confidence.
